Example’s example & why I can’t stop watching my CCTV 5/3/2018
We all have the power to make someone’s day and also to ruin someone’s day. Last week I watched the video online of the pop star Dappy going out to meet fans in the snow, rapping with them, posing for photos and signing autographs. What a lovely gesture. It took him a few minutes but it probably meant the world to those fans who had been waiting in the freezing cold. I respect that a lot. I know not all artists have the time to do that, and certainly don’t have the time to meet or reply to all their fans on twitter, blimey they’d need to be on twitter literally ALL day to try and reply to everyone but these little moments every so often count for so much to those who are lucky enough to experience them.
On the flip side, someone who ruined my day once is Example. He’s also a pop star. When I was training for my first bodybuilding competition I had to spend up to four hours a day shredding on the treadmill (shredding means getting the fat off). I had a playlist on my iPod of songs that got me fired up and KEPT me on the treadmill. One of those songs was an Example song. I played it on repeat some days as I powered on, singing under my breath, focused and determined to do what I set out to achieve. The blood, sweat, tears and sheer hard work I put in to my first competition was insane. I didn’t really think about it at the time, I just did what I needed to do. I’ve always been a grafter. I knuckled down and used any means I could to stay on track; one of those being good tunes on my iPod. After my pictures were released by Discovery Channel to the newspapers of my body transformation, Example put out a shitty tweet saying something about how I couldn’t possibly have done all that naturally (hinting that I must have been on steroids). I was absolutely gutted. Not only was I a fan of his music and had paid for his album, but I had listened to it on repeat to keep me focused. On top of that, I had made ALL my friends watch a video of him and Ed Sheeran on YouTube as I thought they were brilliant. Can you imagine how upsetting it then was for me to be on the receiving end of his shittiness…? I’d done nothing but support him as another normal fan and suddenly he’s putting me down publicly. What the actual f*ck?! FYI I wasn’t on steroids, I’ve NEVER done steroids and never would; and anyone who knows ANYTHING about the gym, bodybuilding, nutrition or weight-training would already know and be able to see that I have never done steroids. All it did was highlight that HE wasn’t educated about steroids, the gym, nutrition or bodybuilding. It’s not a massive deal obviously but it still smarts. I was shocked. What had I ever done to him?
Hey, maybe he
